Your Career Path after Military Retirement
What’s Next After Military Retirement?
Serving my country is one of the most personally rewarding things I’ve done. You’re reading this because you’re like me, and have spent some time serving your country either in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Air Guard, National Guard, Marines, or the Reserves. If you’re a service member, military retirement is always looming. Twenty years of service comes and goes very fast and you can easily find yourself struggling to figure out what your next move is going to be.
The comfort of checking your DFAS MyPay for your next direct deposit on the 1st or the 15th will no longer be there. Well, that’s not totally correct it is? We may be collecting some retirement pay, but is that enough?
Here’s the question? Is there a way in which we can leverage our military training and leadership skills to create financial stability on the Internet and get a chance to enjoy retirement after the military? Yes! In fact, creating a business online has become an exploding trend among countless military members. This is mostly due to the simplistic steps involved and the vast amount of information available for creating and developing a business on the Internet. We will explore this further shortly.
Before we go further and dive into the “how?”, let’s take a look at a few things as it relates to our military experiences.
- We acquire many leadership skills while we’re serving our country while moving through the ranks.
- We are constantly training on processes & procedures. Essentially discovering the right and wrong ways of doing things.
- We have to fill out checklists, complete JQR’s, read Manuals, TTP’s, Tech Manuals, and other instructional material.
All the above items are done with the help of mentors and supervisors with the sole purpose of making us better Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, or Airmen.
Question
- What happens after you complete your military service?
- Do you have any leaders making sure you meet the necessary qualifications to succeed in your next career?
- Who is conducting the training and making sure you’re qualified for the next promotion?
- Where is the recognition for doing a job well done, or the respect given to a new rank?
Sadly, for the majority of us, this all comes to an abrupt end when we finish our obligated service. For a very select and lucky few, you transition to a semi-comparable position with the government doing the same job.
Another question for you
- Do you receive the same level of respect and income in your new civilian position as you did when you were wearing the uniform?
In my experience, most of us do not. I’m sure you know of several examples of this same situation.
OK, now let’s get to the heart of this message and talk a little about Digital Marketing and Military Leadership.
I’ll start by letting you know a little more about me:
After 25 years of honorable military service, including a tour in Iraq. I’m grateful that I can now enjoy the benefits of retirement and spread my passion for digital marketing to others.
I’m excited to share the methods and resources I use to develop and expand my online businesses. The majority of the top internet marketers use these same strategies to give their families financial security.
Here’s a question I asked myself as I neared retirement, and was looking for something online that I could call my own:
- Is Internet Marketing / Networking Companies / Network Marketing / Multi-Level Marketing a viable option?
Many current and prior service members have said “Yes” and already started their businesses, but (and that’s with a capital B), you must be educated on the industry if you want to work online. The rewards can be huge.
- If you acquire the right knowledge, develop the necessary skills, and use the right tools, success can be achieved.
- In order to make it work, however, you must be trained and be willing to invest in your training.
- If you are not willing to get the knowledge you need to be successful, then you are never going to do much in this industry or in any other one.
The military pays for pretty much everything for us as it relates to training. Now we must take on the responsibility ourselves.
We become leaders by gaining knowledge through experience and by doing. Not much different from the military. Your success in the service is directly attributed to the number of people you grow and train to be promoted, and gain a new rank or designator. In online marketing, affiliate marketing, and network marketing companies, you’re rewarded with a new title and a larger income level.
Here’s the big difference:
You don’t have to wait to have X number of years in the service or how long you have been at a certain rank. We all come across that person who has everything it takes to lead, train and grow others but they can’t move forward because of a mandatory restriction imposed by regulations or instruction.
Even in government service jobs, it is very difficult to reach the next pay scale and the rewards are normally very small in comparison to the work and effort.
Which one would you honestly prefer?
